How to: Prevent Windows 95 from playing CDs automatically.
Solution:
In the 'Control Panel' window, double-click the 'System' icon. Click the 'Device Manager' tab, double-click the 'CDROM' icon, and double-click the CD device name. Click the 'Settings' tab and clear the 'Auto insert notification' check box. Click 'OK' twice.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)
3) Double-click the 'System' icon. (The 'System Properties' dialog box appears.)

4) Click the 'Device Manager' tab. (The 'Device Manager' tabbed page appears.)
5) Double-click 'CDROM' in the 'View devices by type' list box. (The branch expands, and all devices are displayed.)
6) Select the appropriate CD-ROM.
7) Click 'Properties'. (The '<device> Properties' dialog box appears, where <device> is the name of the selected CD device.)

8) Click the 'Settings' tab.
9) Clear the 'Auto insert notification' check box. (The check mark disappears.)

11) Click 'OK' to close the 'System Properties' dialog box.
12) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Close' to exit the 'Control Panel' window.
